The Slobozia district is located at 46 ° 44'N 29 ° 42'E, being the southernmost region of Transnistria. It is located south of the capital of the separatist region, the city of Tiraspol. The regional center, Slobozia, had a population of 19,000 at the 1989 census and is estimated at 12,300 people at the 2004 census.
Another important city, Dnestrovsk, has a population of nearly 11,200 inhabitants (most of whom are Ukrainians and Russians). The population of Slobozia is mainly formed of ethnic Romanians, and there are also important minorities: Russian and Ukrainian ethnicity.
In the area of 68 cultural institutions, including 20 cultural houses, schools of music 5, 41 libraries, 4 museums, 4 sports schools, an art school, 35 schools and kindergartens
